Influencing & Negotiating for Results

People are motivated by different things at different times so in order to influence them, we need to understand what their motivators and drivers are – only then can we achieve outcomes that work for all parties. We can influence in a deeper and more powerful way if we understand influencing is both an art and a science.

Negotiation with colleagues and external stakeholders can be a positive and informative experience leading both parties to greater understanding of each other’s needs, however it can, at its worst, be a frustrating and unnecessarily confrontational experience. This workshop will demystify the process of influencing and negotiating and provide powerful tools to help your people achieve both.

COURSE OUTCOMES

By the end of the programme, participants will:

  • Understand how to influence people in ways that are authentic and appropriate
  • See what effective influencers and negotiators do and why that works
  • Understand the ‘variables’ you can use when negotiating
  • Adapt and flex your own style to influence and negotiate more effectively
  • Develop a sound knowledge of the negotiating process and use the steps to produce successful win/win outcomes with confidence and control
  • Avoid  ‘showdowns’ and handle ‘deadlocks’ when negotiating and influencing
  • Overcome your own limitations, concerns and worries – what stops you
  • Different perspectives – how to plan in advance by seeing the situation from others’ perspectives
