Research shows that glossophobia – a fear of public speaking – affects over 75% of the population. People are more worried about presenting than they are about flying, snakes and even death itself.
Much of our anxiety is removed when we have a clear plan and structure (see Masterclass Present with Impact) but knowing how to deliver with impact, how to project your voice, how to make sure your body language (especially when delivering to camera in a virtual setting) gives you authority and is appropriate for the situation, as well as how to handle nerves and really ‘hold your audience’, will give you the confidence to deliver with impact and confidence whatever the situation – face to face or virtual.
By the end of the programme, participants will:
- Handle nerves and use breathing to both relax you and to ensure you project your voice well
- Use a number of warm up techniques to make sure your stance, posture, body language, voice, timbre, pitch and volume are right for you and the situation you face (whether that is a face-to-face presentation or one that you are doing virtually or online)
- Utilise a range of kinaesthetic techniques to have maximum impact with your audience – use of audience connection, use of space, use of proxies
- Recognise ‘congruence’ – when what you say is consistent with the way you say it – and know what to do to be congruent and believable at all times
- Handle objections and questions confidently and competently
