The Leadership Challenge®: Can Leadership really be taught?

///The Leadership Challenge®: Can Leadership really be taught?

So before you ask, the answer is – Yes totally! Leadership can be taught, but that is only if you are willing to take on The Leadership Challenge ®

Flourished out of rigorous research that began in 1982, The Leadership Challenge ® has since been revolutionary in approaching leadership as an observable set of skills and abilities that can be developed over time.

Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner set the intention to understand the fundamentals of a leader’s characteristics at a time of being at their personal best, what transpired out of this research were five fundamental practices that were habitual to extraordinary leadership achievements; these were named The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership®.

Information was collected from very diverse groups of leaders, thousands of participants; this research includes the participation of individuals from all four corners of the globe. Despite very different demographical differences – these ‘personal best’ stories all have similar patterns of behaviour.

You may still wonder – so how exactly can leadership be taught?

As one of the only Global Training Partners of Kouzes and Posner in the UK, where better to ask – So by following the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership, a leader can use its model as guidance. It’ll turn the ambiguous role of leadership into an easy to follow concept consisting of those five practices and the LPI®: Leadership Inventory Practices®.

The LPI® is widely recognised as a popular leadership assessment instrument. It is a 360-degree assessment tool that helps individuals and organisations measure their leadership competencies, while guiding them through the process of applying the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership model to their real-life organisational challenges. Both the LPI® and The Five Practices are designed to both relate back to the effectiveness of a leader and the level of commitment, engagement and satisfaction of those that follow.

Once completed, The LPI® report will provide an individual with insights in regards to their leadership competencies and provide indications on how to act on those discoveries to improve their leadership skills. Whilst also implementing The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership® to their plan to develop, this will allow anyone to liberate the leader within them.
